Getting Around the Project: The Project Sidebar

Easily manage your project through the project sidebar options, from adjusting project details to setting up custom fields and workflows.

Updated over a month ago

The project sidebar icon may appear small, but its importance in project management cannot be underestimated.

This collapsible menu, located in the top-right corner of your project screen, provides essential tools and options to simplify your project management.

The project sidebar contains options and information about the project divided into several sections, including General project info, Workflows, Custom fields, and additional project actions.

Workflows πŸ”

Workflows are sets of task statuses that you can apply to each task to organize your work in phases. Learn how to set them up here.

  • Access the default workflow, which contains two statuses: task started and task closed.

  • Change workflows and set up new task statuses by clicking "Change workflow." First, create a workflow in Settings > Workflows.

Custom fields 🧩

  • Select "Manage project custom fields" and if you have any Project custom fields set up in Settings > Custom fields > Projects, they will appear here and you'll be able to assign them to the project.

  • Select "Manage task custom fields" and if you have any Task custom fields in the Task custom field library, select the ones you want to apply to the tasks within this project.

  • Selecting "Manage task custom fields" and then "Add new custom field" allows you to create project-specific task custom fields and later apply them to the tasks in this project.

Tip: When creating a new custom field, you'll have the option to save it in the Task custom field library, making the custom field available for adding to all projects.
