Required Custom Fields

Set custom fields as required when creating deals, budgets, booking, and companies.

Updated over a month ago

When managing custom fields, ensuring essential information is provided can be crucial for your workflow. One way to enforce this is by setting certain custom fields as required.

Setting a custom field as required is available on the Ultimate plan.

You can designate custom fields as required for the following objects in Productive:

  • Budgets

  • Bookings

  • Deals

  • Companies

Here’s how to set a custom field as required:

  1. Go to Settings > Custom Fields.

  2. Select the custom field you wish to update or create a new one.

  3. Toggle on the "Set as a required field" option and save your changes.

Once you make a custom field required, it becomes mandatory to input information for that field when creating any of the related objects—Budgets, Bookings, Deals, or Companies.

If you try to create a budget, booking, deal or company without filling in the required fields, you will be unable to complete the creation process.

For instance, if you set the "Estimation Value" field as required for your budgets, you cannot create a new budget without entering the required information, and a "Can't be blank" error will appear if the information is missing.
