Duplicate Projects Or Create Project Templates

Quickly set up and organize your projects by creating and/or duplicating predefined project templates.

Updated over a week ago

If you work on similar or repeating projects and managed them in more or less the same way, you can duplicate existing work and/or use one project as a template.

Templates are available when:

  • Duplicating an existing project

  • Converting a Sales deal into a project

  • Creating a project template

๐Ÿ’ก To create a project template, you can also use the Template Center.
With it, however, budgets are not included in the template so they will need to be duplicated separately.
We are working on the budget template feature, too ๐Ÿš€

Duplicating an existing project

To duplicate an existing project go to Projects > choose the project you want to duplicate, open the sidebar and select the Duplicate project option.

Next, you can choose the project type, it can be either for a client or an internal project.

Now is the time to select the details of the new project. Right away, you can add the name of the new project, choose the client (if applicable), choose the project manager, and select who can see this project.

Additionally, you can choose which modules from the existing project you'd like to copy to the new one. By default, you can select Everything, but to fine-tune it, select the other option.

Note that, when duplicating an existing project, closed and/or archived tasks won't duplicate to a new project.

When youโ€™re all set, hit the Create project button and your new project will now show in the Project list.

โ€‹Converting a Sales deal into a project

When marking a Sales deal as won and converting it to a project, there is an option to Create a new project by copying an existing project. Just click on Create a new project > Create by copying an existing project.

When copying an existing project you can choose from the project list, just type to search. After choosing which project you wish to duplicate, follow the same procedure as explained in the previous paragraph (Duplicating an existing project).

After duplicating the project you can easily edit the project and insert data regarding your new project.

Creating a project template

To create a project template go to Projects > Projects and click on to + Projects button. Fill out the project data you wish to be duplicated, and name it so it is later easy to find, like here e.x. TEMPLATE_Project.

After creating a project template click on the sidebar to the right and choose Duplicate project.

Follow the same procedure as explained in the previously detailed paragraph (Duplicating an existing project).

After duplicating the project you can easily edit the new project and insert data regarding your new project.
