Updated over 2 months ago

Duplicating tasks, task lists, and folders in Productive allows you to quickly replicate work across your projects.

Whether you're managing similar tasks for different platforms or need to reuse an entire task list, Productive makes it easy.

Duplicating Individual Tasks

Duplicating a task is straightforward and can save you time when dealing with similar tasks. Here’s how:

  1. Open the Task
Go to the specific task you want to duplicate.

  2. Select Duplicate Task
Open the three-dot menu and select "Duplicate task." Choose what aspects of the task (assignees, subscribers, tags, etc.) you want to copy.

  3. Confirm Duplication
Confirm the duplication and the new task will appear in your task list.

Note: If you're duplicating tasks across projects, make sure the assignees and subscribers are part of the target project.

Duplicating Multiple Tasks

You can also duplicate several tasks at once:

  1. Select Tasks
In the Tasks view, use the checkmarks to select multiple tasks.

  2. Bulk Edit and Duplicate
Open the sidebar at the top of the screen to duplicate all selected tasks simultaneously. You can also make bulk edits before duplicating.

This feature is useful when you need to create multiple tasks with similar attributes in one go.

Note: If you are duplicating multiple tasks, the resulting copies will have the same status, as you need to pick the workflow status when duplicating them.

Duplicating Folders or Task Lists

To duplicate an entire folder or task list:

  • Open the Folder or Task List
Navigate to the folder or task list you want to duplicate.

  • Use the Three-Dot Menu
Open the three-dot menu and select "Duplicate".

  • Customize the Duplication
Choose the destination project and select which task elements you’d like to include in your new folder: tasks, descriptions, assignees, time estimates, tags, comments, due dates, attachments, subscribers, repeat schedules, to-dos, and subtasks.

Tip: Duplicating folders or task lists is helpful when you want to reuse a specific workflow or task structure across multiple projects.
