Can't Track Time Against a Sales Deal?

There are a few reasons why you may be unable to track time against a service in a deal. Let's see what they are!

Updated yesterday

Are you or your team encountering issues while trying to track time against a specific deal and its services?

If a service isnโ€™t available or isnโ€™t showing where you expect it, itโ€™s usually related to permissions, deal stage settings, or service configuration. Below, weโ€™ll walk through each potential issue and how to resolve it.

๐Ÿ‘‰ If you are looking to track time or log expenses against a service in a budget, and cannot find it, take a look at this article for possible reasons and solutions.

1) User not added to the deal's sharing options

Ensure the user trying to track time is added to the deal. Access the sharing options in the upper-right corner.

2) User missing a cost rate

Confirm that the user has a cost rate defined for the relevant date. If not, add or update it in Settings > Users or Resourcing > Employees, making sure the rate covers the correct date range.

๐Ÿ“Œ Only admins can perform this action.

3) Deal missing services

Make sure the deal includes at least one service. Time cannot be tracked against deals without services.

4) Tracking options disabled in the deal stage settings

Some pipeline stages may have time tracking and expense logging disabled. Verify the deal stage settings.

๐Ÿ“Œ Only admins can perform this action.

5) Time tracking restricted to assigned services or people

Check if time and expense tracking is limited to certain service types or only to people assigned to the services in the budget.

6) Time tracking against services disabled

Check if time tracking is turned off for services in the budget. If so, click the Edit icon and toggle the option to enable it.

๐Ÿ“Œ Make sure that time tracking and expense logging haven't been disabled in the deal pipeline stage settings (see step 4 above), as these settings override individual deal settings.
