Joining and Leaving a Project

Join or leave projects on your own. Add yourself to projects easily with a couple of clicks.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

To join a project accessible to everybody, select a project from the list (Project management > Projects) and click on the Join project button at the bottom.

Alternatively, you can always find the Join project option in the project sidebar in the "More actions" tab.

If you decide to leave a project, this is the same place you want to go to.

Note on Permissions

By default, Admins, Managers (unrestricted), Profitability Managers (unrestricted), and Coordinators (unrestricted) can view and join all projects.

Note: users with Staff permissions can only see projects they’ve been explicitly added to.

If you want to limit project visibility for Admins, unrestricted Profitability Managers, Managers, and Coordinators, you have two options:

1) Create a Custom Permission Set

Use the Permission Builder to create a new permission set without the "View all projects" permission, then assign it to the relevant users.

📌 Example: Suppose you want Managers to have limited project access. Start with the Manager permission set and remove the "View all projects" permission.

Now, users assigned this custom permission set won’t automatically see or join all projects—they’ll only access projects explicitly shared with them.

2) Restrict the Permission Set

Change a user's permission level from unrestricted to restricted, meaning they will only see projects that are explicitly shared with them.

📌 Tip: To simplify access management, tweak the users' permissions and group them into teams.

For example, instead of adding individual users to multiple projects, create a "Managers" or a "Design" team and add the team to every project they need access to. This ensures consistent access without manual adjustments for each user.
