Dependent Permissions in Custom Permission Sets

Understand dependent permissions in Productive—how enabling/disabling key permissions automatically links related access.

Updated over a week ago

When building custom permission sets from scratch, you'll notice that some permissions are interlinked.

In other words, turning one permission on or off triggers enabling or disabling one or more dependent permissions.

Custom permission sets are available on the Ultimate subscription plan.

How it Works

For example, enabling Task Viewing automatically enables Project Viewing. Conversely, disabling Project Viewing will also disable Task Viewing.

This relationship between permissions ensures that certain functions remain logically connected.

Productive's permission system helps you prevent inconsistencies when assigning user access by maintaining these automatic dependencies.

Why It Matters

These dependencies help simplify permission management by ensuring that the access granted matches the functional structure of Productive.

When assigning custom permissions, these built-in dependencies reduce the risk of granting incomplete or contradictory access.

By keeping these automatic linkages in mind, you can more effectively manage your team's access and prevent confusion or security gaps.
