Gantt Layout

Plan your project in phases and track progress by visualizing the work that needs to be done.

Updated over a week ago

The Gantt layout provides a visual timeline of your project tasks, making it easier to manage dependencies and track progress.

The Gantt layout is available on Professional and Ultimate plans.

Enabling the Gantt Layout

To enable the Gantt layout for an individual project, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the project you wish to view.

  2. Click on the "Layout" option.

  3. Select "Gantt" from the dropdown menu.

  4. If you wish to save this view for future use, click "Save" and name the view accordingly. This ensures that your customized Gantt view is easily accessible whenever you need it.

Note: Tasks without a due date won't show up in the Gantt layout. Use this view for tasks with a specific due date or date range.

Understanding the Gantt Layout

The Gantt layout offers a visual representation of your project's structure and task durations:

  • Project Hierarchy

The left side of the layout displays the hierarchy, including boards, task lists, tasks, and subtasks. You can expand or collapse each level for a more detailed or condensed view.

  • Task Duration

On the right side, the Gantt chart visually represents the duration of each task, making it easier to see timelines and overlaps.

Managing Dependencies

One of the key features of the Gantt layout is the ability to manage task dependencies.

You can easily view and create dependencies, such as tasks that are blocking others or are waiting on the completion of other tasks, directly within this layout.

Managing Tasks

When using the Gantt layout, you can add new boards and task lists via the boards dropdown menu.

Tasks and subtasks can be added directly from the left side of the Gantt chart. Reordering boards, task lists, and tasks is also possible through the dropdown or manual drag-and-drop.

Additional Features

  • Zoom & Focus
Adjust the level of detail you see by zooming in or out (click on the magnifying glass in the upper right). The Today button allows you to quickly jump back to the current date on your timeline.

  • Color Coding
You can color-code your tasks by status or any custom field, providing a quick visual reference. Note that color-coding is only available for single-select custom fields.

  • Sorting
Boards, task lists, and tasks can be manually sorted, giving you control over the organization of your Gantt chart.

  • Exporting
Currently, exporting the Gantt chart is not available, but this feature is on our roadmap for future updates πŸš€.
