Productive's Docs

Use Docs to simplify team collaboration, add project documentation, onboarding guidelines or how-tos, among others.

Updated over 3 months ago

Productive's Docs make it easy for teams to work together on documents in real time, no matter where they are.

As the doc creator, you can control who can access and edit docs, and it's simple to create index pages, add emojis for visual distinction, move pages and subpages, and track changes to see previous doc versions.

Plus, Docs have helpful features powered by Productive AI, which help everyone work smarter and faster.

How to Add and Access Docs

A doc in Productive doesn't have to be associated with a project; it can also stand alone. However, you can always add docs to a project as needed.

Let's go over the options below.

Adding a Standalone Doc

  • Navigate to your Project Management tab and select "Docs" from the dropdown menu.

  • You can then start adding docs by clicking on either the "+ Doc", "Add New Doc", or the + button next to the Docs.

  • You can always add the doc to a project later by clicking the "Add to project" button in the upper left corner.

  • When a doc is not part of a project, by default it is only visible to its creator!

Adding a Doc within a Project

  • If you are already located in a project, simply head over to the Docs tab and add a doc from there.

Docs layout overview

When viewing your docs, whether they are in a project or not, group them by Project, Creator, or None, and add and remove Fields and Filters for easier navigation.

Additionally, for better organization and accessibility, you can store such different combinations as distinct Views and access them from the Views dropdown later.

Similar to any table view in Productive, sort your data by clicking on a column (field) in the table. Use the Search bar to filter Docs by titles containing specific keywords.

Pro Tip: For easier navigation, while viewing your docs, either from the main Doc tab or within a project, use the Project Status filter to exclude any docs associated with archived and inactive projects.
