Productive's AI in Docs improves writing, simplifies language, generates summaries and action items, allowing you to work more efficiently.

Productive's Docs make teamwork easy and now include AI features. These AI tools help teams work smarter and faster by organizing content, offering suggestions, and improving productivity.


Let's see how to enable the AI features and what's included!

Enable Productive AI

  • Before using AI in Docs, the account admin must turn on the Productive AI feature in the account settings (Settings > Productive AI).

AI Editor

  • To use the AI editor, highlight the whole text or a selection, and the editing toolbar with Productive AI will show up.

  • Click the AI button on the left to access all AI editing options.

  • From there, you'll have two groups of actions to choose from: revising the selection or generating new content from it.

Revise Selection

Improve writing quality with AI suggestions for sentence structure, grammar, length, language, and tone adjustments, resulting in clearer communication and readability.

  • Improve writing: Productive AI will make suggestions for improving sentence structure, clarity, and overall readability.

  • Check spelling and grammar: Productive AI can detect and correct spelling, grammatical, and punctuation errors to improve the quality of your content.

  • Make shorter: Productive AI will make suggestions to condense sentences or paragraphs while retaining their original meaning, resulting in more concise content.

  • Make longer: On the other hand, the AI can suggest additional details, examples, or explanations to help expand on ideas and make the content more complete.

  • Simplify language: Productive AI can analyze complex sentences or terminology and suggest simpler alternatives to improve understanding, particularly for a larger audience.

  • Change tone: The AI can change the tone of the text to reflect various styles such as professional, casual, straightforward, confident, or friendly, adapting to specific audience preferences or document requirements.

Generate from Selected

Productive AI will create summaries, action items, explanations, and translations, making content creation easier to tackle.

  • Summarize: The AI can create a summary of the selected text, capturing the main points and ideas.

  • Create action items: Productive AI can detect actionable items or tasks mentioned in the text and create a list of reminders for users to follow up on.

  • Explain this: The AI can explain or define complex terms or concepts in the selected text, helping with comprehension.

  • Translate: Productive AI can translate the selected text into multiple languages, allowing multilingual teams or audiences to communicate and collaborate better.


Adding the AI suggestion to your page

  • After selecting any of the options listed above, a popup will appear with AI-generated suggestions based on the prompt.

  • You can then either insert the generated text directly or replace the existing selection with the newly generated content.

Write with Productive AI

  • When you add the text "/AI" to your page, Productive's Write with AI feature will become available as an option.

  • Once activated, you can enter a prompt or question and have the AI generate the content. You can then provide AI with another prompt, copy the generated text, or insert it directly into your working page.
