Can I Assign Multiple Assignees to a Task?

Learn how to manage tasks with multiple assignees in Productive by utilizing subtasks and To-Do items for effective collaboration.

Updated over a week ago

Productive currently does not support multiple assignees for a single task. However, you can work around this limitation by using subtasks, which can each be assigned to different people.

Workaround: Using Subtasks for Multiple Assignees

  1. Create Subtasks:

    • Within the main task, add subtasks for each assignee. Assign a different person to each subtask.

    • This allows multiple people to work on different parts of the task, and each will see their assigned subtask in their Tasks overview.

  2. Leave Main Task Unassigned:

    • If the main task doesn't need a specific assignee, you can leave it unassigned. The only required fields are the task’s Title and Task list.

  3. Use To-Do Items for Smaller Tasks:

    • For less complex tasks, you can create To-Do items within the main task and assign them to different team members. This serves a similar purpose as subtasks.
