Connecting Jira To Projects in Productive

Integrate Jira with Productive to sync time tracking between both platforms, ensuring accurate and efficient project management.

Updated over a week ago

Overview

With Jira integration, you can link your Jira projects with those in Productive, enabling seamless time tracking across both platforms.

This integration ensures that time logged in Jira is accurately reflected in Productive's Time section. Note that this setup can only be performed by an admin in Productive.

Benefits of Integration:

  • Consistent Time Tracking: Ensures accurate tracking of work hours across platforms.

  • Simplified Workflow: Facilitates easier management of time entries and project progress.

  • Enhanced Reporting: Provides comprehensive insights into time spent on projects.

Note: Make sure you are both logged in to Jira and Productive before connecting projects and logging time.

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Open the Project in Jira

  1. Start by opening the project in Jira that you want to integrate.

  2. Open the issue/task and navigate to the Productive Time Tracking widget on the right.

  3. Select your project from Productive and click Connect.

Step 2: Tracking Time on Jira Projects in Productive

Now that you have connected the two projects, you can log time in Jira and have it visible in your budgets in Productive.

  1. Open the project in Jira where you will be working.

  2. Select the issue you want to track time on and open it.

  3. Access the time-tracking widget within the issue.

  4. Select the budget and the service you are working on from the "Service" dropdown.

  5. Add the date and optionally, add a description of the time entry.

  6. To start the timer: Click Start.

  7. For manual time entries: Enter the time manually and click Save.

Important Notes

  • Time Entries

All time entries made in Jira will be reflected in Productive.

  • Editing Time Entries
Edits can be made in Jira, and they will be visible in Productive. Changes to the time entry made in Productive will be visible in the Productive Time Tracking widget, but not in the Jira Worklog. To apply changes to both, edit the time entry in Jira's widget.

  • Synchronization
Time entries logged in Jira follow Productive's rules. For example, if time approvals are required, the entry must be approved in Productive to take effect.
