Dashboards in Projects let you display data directly inside a project by adding a dedicated tab. This allows you to track revenue, tasks, time off, and write notes.
Adding a Dashboard Tab
To add a Dashboard tab:
๐ For more information on how to add and customize visible tabs in your project, see the article on Navigating Projects: Tabs and Layout Options.
๐ Note: You can add multiple Dashboard tabs to your project, each with its own different layout and widgets.
๐ Each user will only have access to the data that is allowed by their permission set.
๐ Certain widgets will appear as "restricted widgets" to users who do not have the necessary data access permissions!
Project Overview Template
After adding a dashboard tab to your project, you can either start from an existing template or build the dashboard from scratch. The project overview template provides a quick starting point with pre-selected widgets that can be customized later.
๐ Note: Each widget created through the dashboard template can be further customized, deleted, and any number of new widgets can be added.
Widgets included in this template are:
Note - Add personal reminders or key updates.
Unassigned Tasks - Number of open tasks without an assignee.
Started Tasks - Number of tasks in the Started status.
Completed Tasks - Number of tasks in the Closed status.
Open Tasks by Status - Number of all currently open tasks, grouped by status.
Open Tasks by Assignee - Number of open tasks grouped by assignee.
Open Tasks by Task List - Chart showing the number of tasks grouped by task list.
New Tasks Over Time - Chart showing the number of new tasks per month.
Completed Tasks Over Time - Chart showing the number of closed tasks per month.

Widgets
Widgets are the building blocks of a dashboard. They can display data (from reports or templates) or provide context (with notes, headings, and dividers). Data widgets update automatically every 60 seconds.
Adding a Widget
To add a widget, open the Widget dropdown in the upper right. Youโll see several options.
โ
Report
Build a widget from scratch using data sources like projects, tasks, bookings, time, budgets, deals, and more.
โ
Note
Add a rich-text widget to leave explanations, write step-by-step guides, add links, or share messages with your team.
Notes support text formatting, images, banners, quotes, tables, and hyperlinks, similar to Docs.
โ
Heading
Add a title or label to visually separate sections of your dashboard. You can add one or multiple headings and distribute them across the dashboard as needed.
From Template
Add predefined widgets categorized under Tasks, Financials, Profitability, Operations, People, Organization, or Copy from Reports.
โ
๐ Only users with access to the required data will see certain template categories. For example, only coordinators, managers, and admins will see the Copy from Reports category.
๐ When a report is added as a widget, it becomes independentโediting the widget won't affect the original report in the Reports tab.
Editing a Widget
To edit a widget, click on the โ๏ธ icon:
From there, you can edit the widget's name in the upper left, as well as use options you usually find in the reports: filters, fields, grouping options, charts, custom formulas, and targets.
โ
๐ Be sure to select Save after adjusting the information you'd like to see in the widget!
โ
A widget can also be resizedโto expand or shrink it, hover over its border, and drag it to the desired spot.
More Widget Actions
To access more widget options, click the three-dot menu on the widget. From there, you can:
Duplicate โ Create an identical copy of the widget on the current dashboard.
Move โ Transfer the widget to another dashboard you have access to.
Delete โ Remove the widget from the dashboard.
Missing X and Y-Axis Labels?
Widgets need to be at least 11 squares wide and 11 squares tall to show labels. Try resizing if they're not visible.
Donut charts are an exception as they are only required to be 8 squares wide and 8 squares tall to show labels.
๐ Note: To see a legend for a donut chart, the widget will have to be expanded to at least 9 squares wide and 11 squares tall.
