Change your Account Language

Learn how to change the language of your Productive account and adjust time zone settings to match your preferences.

Updated this week

You can personalize your Productive experience by changing the language of your account. This is an individual setting, meaning you can use Productive in one language while your colleagues use another.

How to Change Your Language and Time Zone

Access Account Settings

  • Hover over your avatar in the upper-right corner and select Settings.

  • Select Account.

Choose Your Language

  • In the Localization section, select your preferred language.

  • You can choose between English (US), Spanish, German, and French.

Adjust Your Time Zone

  • Optionally, select your time zone from the dropdown menu.
📌 Note: If you do not select your personal time zone, the time zone set by the account admin will be used instead.

  • (Optional) Check "Automatically detect the time zone" to have Productive update your time zone based on your browser’s time zone.

📌 How does automatic time zone detection work?
When enabled, Productive detects the time zone settings of your browser and updates your account accordingly. If you travel or switch devices, your time zone will adjust automatically based on your current browser settings.

Good to Know: Organization Time Zone vs. Individual Time Zone

The organization time zone is set by your company admin in Settings > General and applies to:

  • Scheduling notifications (e.g., reminders).

  • Auto-tracking time entries from service bookings.

  • Defining the time window for syncing external calendar events (Google, Outlook).

  • Potential future cost calculations (if applicable).

Your individual time zone is personal to your account and affects:

  • How you see task deadlines (due date and time).

  • Filtering tasks by overdue status (based on your time zone).

  • Applying date-based filters (e.g., created at, approved at, edited at).

  • Time-locking rules for tracking time.

  • Retrieving events from iCal integration for the current week.

For example, if you’re working remotely in a different time zone, your overdue tasks will be calculated based on your time zone, while scheduled notifications and auto-tracked time entries will follow the organization’s time zone.
