Use Case: Adding an Empty Tax Rate

Create an empty tax rate for clients exempt from taxes, allowing you to customize invoices without applying a standard tax rate.

Updated over a week ago

In Productive, adding a tax rate to each line item in your invoice is mandatory, even in cases where no traditional tax applies.

However, to accommodate special circumstances, you can create an "empty" tax rate.

This allows you to name the tax rate while leaving the tax name and value fields blank, providing flexibility for scenarios like tax-exempt clients or specific agreements.

Use Case

If you have a client who is exempt from taxes due to their location or a special arrangement, follow these steps:

1) Create an empty tax rate by entering the tax rate name but leaving the tax name and value fields blank.

2) Apply this empty tax rate to the client's invoice. This will ensure the invoice reflects the correct terms without applying a standard tax rate.

3)The resulting invoice PDF will not display any tax rate information for the said item.
For example, we added our newly created "No Tax" rate to the "Services 8/24" line item, and our regular "MET" tax rate to the "Expenses" line item.
