Enabling the "Sync status with absence" toggle allows your absence bookings (time off and remote work) to reflect automatically in your availability status in Productive.
This means that every time you book an absence, your availability status will be updated accordingly, helping your teammates stay informed about your absence without any manual intervention.
Here’s a quick guide to help you understand how it works.
The status availability sync is available on Professional and Ultimate plans.
Syncing Absence with Status in Productive
When updating your status (hover over your avatar in the upper right and select "Update your status"), you’ll see a toggle option to sync your status with booked absence.
If this option is enabled, your absence bookings will automatically sync with your status.

Let's walk through an example!
We’ll book a vacation starting this Monday and going until Friday the same week.
📌 Note that the vacation must be set for a full day to sync with your status, as partial-day bookings don’t specify which part of the day the status should cover.
Once the booking is made and approved if necessary, your status will update immediately, showing that you are on vacation until the specified end date.
Only approved absence bookings will sync automatically. If the booking requires approval, it will only sync after being approved.
Handling Future Absence Bookings
For future absence bookings, the status will sync at midnight on the day the absence starts, according to the local time zone of your organization. We check the time zone every hour to ensure accurate syncing.
Managing Your Status
If you manually clear your status after an ansence booking has been set, it will not automatically reset to the absence status. This prevents unwanted status changes if you prefer not to display your absence status continuously.
If automatic status synchronization is enabled, any manually set statuses will be overwritten when an absence booking becomes active.
Considerations
Currently, absence bookings imported from other tools integrated with Productive will not sync if they are already in progress. Future bookings will sync as expected when their start date arrives.
Deleting a booking will not remove the status. You must manually clear it to prevent the accidental deletion of manually set statuses.
