Single Sign-On (SSO) offers your company a unified and secure way to log into Productive, utilizing SAML 2.0, an industry standard for authentication. This ensures seamless integration with major SSO providers:
Benefits of Using SSO
One-click Sign-In
SSO allows employees and contractors to log in to Productive directly from your selected SSO provider without needing a separate username and password.
Note that enabling SSO for your organization does not affect client logins; clients will still use their own credentials.
Automated Provisioning
With SSO enabled, admins can automatically create new Productive accounts directly from the SSO provider. This feature is integrated automatically when SSO is enabled and cannot be toggled separately.
Follow the links above for detailed instructions on how to connect your Productive account to each service.
Forcing Login via Single Sign-On
If you want to disable regular logins for employees and contractors, you can enforce SSO login.
This option can be enabled in Settings > Single Sign-On after successfully setting up SSO. Note that to turn on this feature, you must be logged in using SSO.
Once you fill in the Identity Provider URL and Metadata URL, the SSO setup will be complete, and the force login option can be toggled on.
Important Note on Integration Compatibility
If you enforce Single Sign-On (SSO) in Productive, users will not be able to log into certain integrations, such as the Jira widget, as it does not support SSO.
To ensure uninterrupted access to all Productive features and integrations, carefully consider whether enforcing SSO logins aligns with your organization’s needs.
What happens if a user is a member of two organizations?
If both organizations have SSO enabled, the user will be prompted to provide the ID of the organization they wish to log in to after the initial login step.
If only one organization has SSO enabled, the user will be logged into that organization when selecting the "Log in using SSO" option during login.
Tip: you can find your organization ID in two ways:
In the web address: It's the unique number directly after "app.productive.io" in the URL.
In the Settings: Go to Settings, then API integrations to find your organization ID.
Your organization ID is a unique number that identifies your company in Productive.
