Managing deals often involves multiple tasks, collaboration, and deliverables. Instead of tracking everything separately, you can link a deal to a project in Productive.
This makes it easier to keep work organized and ensures your team has the right tools for planning and execution.
You can link a deal to a new or existing project. Once connected, you’ll see the deal inside the project, just like you would with budgets.
How to Add a Deal to a Project
1. Link a Deal to a Project When Creating It
When creating a new deal, you have the option to connect it to a project in the final step:
Select an existing project from the dropdown.
Create a new project from scratch for the deal.
Or add a project from a template and link it to the the deal.
Once linked, the project and deal will be connected, making it easy to track progress.
2. Link an Existing Deal to a Project
If you already have a deal and want to link it to a project:
Open the deal.
In the sidebar, locate the Project field and click Assign to project.
Select an existing project and click Save deal.
What happens when I link a deal to a project?
The Deals tab appears in the project, listing all linked deals.
The deal will inherit the client from the project (just like budgets).
The deal remains editable, and you can reassign it to another project if needed.
Can I create a deal while creating a project?
Not at the moment. Right now, you can create a project from a deal, but not the other way around.
When I win a deal and create a project, is the project automatically linked to the won deal?
No. When you win a deal and create a new project, you'll need to manually link the deal to the project. The Deals tab will be available, but it won’t contain any deals by default.
Can I track time against deal services if I log time directly from the Time tab in tasks?
No. The Time tab inside tasks only includes services from linked budgets, not deals. To track time against deal services, open My Time and select the relevant service.
