Archiving or deleting absence categories can help you reorganize, clean up unused entries, or remove incorrect configurations.
Archiving preserves data but disables usage.
Deleting moves the category and its data to the Recycle Bin, where you can either restore or permanently delete it.
📌 Absence is divided into Time Off and Remote Work categories (currently in Beta). If your account hasn’t been updated yet, you’ll only see Time Off—the functionality remains the same. The full update will be rolled out to all users.
How to Archive an Absence Category
To archive an absence category, follow these steps:
Go to Settings and select Absence.

What Happens When You Archive an Absence Category?
Archiving affects the following:
In the Resource Planner, creating and editing absence bookings for the archived category will no longer be possible. However, existing bookings can still be deleted, while actions like splitting, duplicating, and repeating the bookings are disabled.
Booking absence using the archived category will be disabled, and the category will no longer appear as an option when creating new absence requests.
Existing booked and approved absence for archived categories will still be visible in the Absence logs marked with a strike-through.
All pending requests are automatically canceled (approved, rejected, or previously canceled requests remain unchanged).
Once a category is archived, you can no longer add it as an absence allocation to any user profile.
Can an Archived Category Be Restored?
Yes, an archived absence category can be restored. Here's how:
Go to Settings > Absence and click on the "Show Archived" button.
Find the archived category you want to restore and click the restore icon.
What Happens When You Restore It?
Restoring an archived category brings it back into its default state. This means:
It becomes available for new absence bookings again
Any existing allocations will be restored and visible under the person’s Absence tab
How to Delete an Absence Category
You can only delete a category that has already been archived. To do so:
Find archived absence categorie sunder Settings > Absence > Show Archived.
Locate the category you want to delete and click "Delete".
What Happens When You Delete an Absence Category?
The category and all related data are moved to the Recycle Bin:
Bookings made using the deleted category will no longer appear in the Resource Planner or on the users' Book Absence screen.
Allocations associated with the deleted category will not be shown under Absence in user profiles.
Booking reports will not contain any information about the deleted absence category.
The deleted absence category will not be visible anywhere in Productive.
What Can I Do in the Recycle Bin?
Once deleted, and an absence category is in the Recycle Bin, you have two options:
Restore
Restores the category in its archived state
Bookings and allocations will be restored
📌 Any bookings or allocations manually deleted before deleting the category will remain in the Recycle Bin as separate items
Delete Forever
Permanently removes the category and all related data from the system
