Shift or Extend Tasks in Bulk

Move many tasks' dates at once, or make them longer, when a project's timeline changes.

When a project’s timeline changes, you don’t need to change task dates one by one. Select the tasks and shift or extend them all at once.

Shift or Extend Tasks

Select the tasks, open the three-dot menu in the bar at the top, and click Shift or extend. The Shift or extend task dates window opens.

Choose what to do:

  • Shift by moves the tasks earlier or later. Each task keeps its length.

  • Extend by makes the tasks longer: To the future moves their due dates later, and To the past moves their start dates earlier.

Choose how many days, weeks, or months, and the direction. The window shows when the tasks will start and end.

📌 Only tasks with dates can be moved. To extend a task, it needs both a start and a due date. If a task is linked to a booking, Productive asks you to confirm before moving it. You can undo the change right after.

Example: your client pushes the launch back two weeks. Select all the remaining tasks and shift them two weeks into the future. Every task moves, and none of them gets shorter or longer.
