Verifactu: The QR Code on Invoices

See where the Verifactu QR code appears on your invoices, what it looks like before and after fiscalization, and how to show or hide it.

When an invoice is fiscalized through Verifactu, an official QR code is stamped onto its PDF as proof of registration with the Spanish tax agency (AEAT). Productive reserves space for it on your invoice templates, so you don't need to add or position it yourself.

This article covers where the QR code appears, what it looks like before and after fiscalization, and how to show or hide it.

📌 The QR code area only appears on invoices from subsidiaries set up for Verifactu, and only invoices to clients with a Spanish Tax ID can be submitted.

👉 To set up your subsidiary for Verifactu, see Verifactu: Setup.

👉 To submit invoices, see Verifactu: Fiscalizing Invoices.

QR Code in Your Invoice Templates

The first time you finish E-Invoicing setup, Productive adds the QR code to all your existing invoice templates.

If you use a custom template design, go to Settings > Document Templates to check that the QR code displays correctly.

Show or Hide the QR Code

The QR code is shown by default. To hide it:

  1. Click your avatar in the upper right and go to Settings > Document Templates.

  2. Open the invoice template.

  3. Set the Subsidiary preview (top right) to your Spanish subsidiary.

  4. In the Document template editor, go to Customization > Header Options.

  5. Under Show/Hide Fields, click the eye icon next to QR code (e-invoicing Spain).

The QR code only shows in the template editor when the Subsidiary preview (top right) is set to a subsidiary set up for Verifactu.

📌 If you hide the QR code on the invoice template, invoices that use the template can't be submitted to Verifactu.

📌 Invoices from other subsidiaries never show the QR code. If your Spanish subsidiary also sends invoices that you won't submit to Verifactu, for example, to clients outside Spain, you can create a separate invoice template with the QR code hidden.

Before and After Fiscalization

The official QR code only exists once the Spanish tax agency registers the invoice. Before fiscalization, the PDF shows the QR placeholder. Invoices you don't submit to Verifactu keep the placeholder.

After fiscalization, the official QR code replaces the placeholder in the same spot you see in the template preview, and the invoice's PDF in Productive is replaced with this stamped copy.

📌 Important: If the invoice template hides the QR code, or you attach a custom PDF to the invoice, you can't submit the invoice to Verifactu.
