SDI: Sending Invoices via SDI (Beta)

Learn how to send finalized invoices through the SDI network in Productive, including required fields and validation.

If e-invoicing is enabled in your settings and all required sender and recipient details are in place, you'll have the option to send finalized invoices directly through SDI (Sistema di Interscambio), Italy's e-invoicing network.

This guide covers how to send an SDI invoice from Productive, including the required data fields and how validation works.

SDI e-invoicing is currently in Beta and is being rolled out gradually. If you're interested in testing it, reach out to us via in-app chat to have it enabled for your account.

Good to Know: Limitations by Plan

There is a monthly limit on the number of invoices you can send via SDI, based on your plan:

  • Essential Plan: 10 invoices

  • Professional Plan: 50 invoices

  • Ultimate Plan: 100 invoices

📌 You must be on a paid plan to send invoices via SDI. This option is not available during the trial period.

You'll see the transaction counter in Settings > Invoicing > E-Invoicing and when selecting Send to client > Send e-invoice.

How to Send an Invoice via SDI

  1. Open the finalized invoice you want to send.

  2. Open the Send to Client dropdown in the upper-right corner and select Send e-invoice.

  3. Click Send Invoice. Productive validates the required fields before submitting the invoice to SDI.

This opens a modal where you need to confirm or add the SDI code for the client.

Requirements for Sending via SDI

1. Invoice Information

The invoice must be finalized and have an invoice number.

👉 Learn more about invoice numbering options here.

2. Client (Bill To) Information

  • Full Company Name

  • Tax ID (Italian Tax ID)

  • Address (Street, City, ZIP Code, State, and Country)

  • SDI Code: A 7-character alphanumeric code used to identify the recipient on the SDI network set up in CRM > Companies > E-Invoicing Information (or entered when sending the e-invoice).

3. Sender (Bill From) Information

  • Full Company Name

  • Tax ID (Italian Tax ID)

  • Address (Street, City, ZIP/Postcode, State, and Country)

📌 Bill From information must match your subsidiary settings exactly. Manual edits to addresses on the invoice can cause the submission to be rejected.

4 Subsidiary Bank Account

A valid bank account for the invoice-sending subsidiary must be configured under Settings > Company Info > Bank Accounts.

Validation Status

Successful Validation

A confirmation appears in the invoice feed.

Validation Errors

If any errors are detected, a popup displays the issues.

Troubleshooting Validation Errors

If you run into validation issues, check the following:

  • Client Tax ID and SDI Code: Ensure these are entered correctly in CRM > Companies. A missing or incorrect code is the most common reason for a rejected invoice.

  • Sender Tax ID and address: Verify these match your subsidiary settings.

  • Bill To / Bill From addresses: Ensure these match the addresses configured in your e-invoicing and subsidiary settings.
