When setting up your budget in the Simple Budget Editor, you'll find three types to choose from:
Non-billable budgets
What sets the Non-billable budget apart is that it's geared towards tracking hours for activities and tasks that won't be billed to clients.
β
As such, they only incur costs but are still vital in project and budget management as they allow you to track time spent on non-billable activities, as well as plan your resources accordingly.
Here are the options you can choose from:
Total Hours per Budget
This option lets you allocate an estimated total of hours for the entire budget, spread across all budget members.
π Adding individual service line items is disabled here, as this option creates a "Budget" service against which time can be tracked.
Hours/Days per Person
This option allows the hourly rate to be specific to the person working on the service in the budget.
If you choose this option, the hourly rate will apply to the person you have selected for that service, with a set tracking restriction (meaning only the selected person will be able to log hours for the said service).
Use this when you want to define how many hours (or days) are allocated to each service individually.
For example, if you set your person-day to 8 hours, entering β2 daysβ for a service will calculate as 16 hours. This is useful when your pricing or planning is based on day units rather than raw hours.
Hours/Days per Service
This option helps you estimate hours for a particular service, allowing multiple team members to log hours against it.
