Person-Days

Define the number of hours that constitute a workday in your organization. Person-days help track hours in reports and budgets.

Updated over a week ago

The Person-Days setting determines how many hours constitute a single workday for your organization. It is used to:

  • Track worked or assigned time to a person in reports

  • Convert hours into person-days

  • Sell services in day units in budgets

πŸ“Œ Note: Person-days are different from resourcing and individual cost rates. They are a metric for understanding and analyzing how work is distributed across the team.

The setting applies organization-wide and is configured in Settings > General > Work Time.

Person-Days in Reports

The person-day setting converts hours worked into day units in reports, helping you see workloads in terms of full workdays.

Example A: Person-day = 6 hours

  • Lucy Wu worked 40 hours

  • Person-day: 6 hours

  • In reports formatted as person-days: 40 Γ· 6 = 6.67 person-days

Example B: Person-day = 8 hours

  • Lucy Wu worked 40 hours

  • Person-day: 8 hours

  • In reports formatted as person-days: 40 Γ· 8 = 5 person-days

Person-Days in Budgets

The person-day setting also affects how services defined in day units are calculated in budgets.

Example: If 1 day = 6 hours, selling one day of work corresponds to 6 hours.

Custom Person-Days

The Ultimate plan lets you customize Person-days per budget, giving you more flexibility in setting up individual budgets outside of organizational settings, similar to custom cost rates.
