Automations: Set Custom Field Values for Tasks

Learn how to set and update custom field values in Productive's Create Task and Update Task actions,

Updated over a month ago

In Productive, automations now allow you to set custom field values directly on tasks when using the Create Task or Update Task actions.

This enhancement gives you more control over task attributes during the automation process.

Using Custom Fields with "Create Task" and "Update Task" Actions

1) Create Task Action

When creating a new task via automation, you'll now see all custom fields associated with that task for the specific project.

You can define the initial values for these custom fields as part of the task creation process. For example, when the task is created, you can set custom fields like priority or status to specific values.

2) Update Task Action

Similarly, when you use the Update Task action, you can now select which custom fields you want to update and specify the new values.

For example, if the task status has been changed to "Important", you can update the "Reviewer" and "Priority" custom fields to match your workflow better.
