The Planning Tab

See a person's bookings and capacity directly from their profile, filtered to just them, with the same view as the Resource Planner.

The Planning tab shows a bookable person's bookings and capacity in one place, without needing access to the Resource Planner or filters.

It's the fastest way for an individual contributor to see what they're scheduled to work on.

The tab appears on the profile of every bookable person: Employees and Contractors, including deactivated or archived ones. Placeholders don't have a profile, so they don't get a Planning tab.

What the Planning Tab Shows

The tab loads the Resource Planner > By Person layout, filtered to that one person.

While you can't remove or change this filter, and you can't switch layouts, you'll see:

  • Bookings on that person, grouped by budget, deal, or absence category.

  • Capacity indicators, based on the person's expected working hours.

  • Bookings from all projects and budgets, so you get a full picture of their workload, not just what's shared with you.

📌 Capacity indicators are calculated from all of the person's bookings in the loaded period, not just the ones you have permission to see in detail.

This means the total shown can be higher than what appears in the grid. This is intentional: an accurate total matters more than a fully restricted one.

A person with no engagement or cost rate assigned still shows up, just without capacity data. There's no empty state: the person is always shown, and you can add a booking for them even if none exist yet.

The tab does not include filters, sort, fields, or views. The sidebar is visible but shows only the one person, with no search.

Adding and Editing Bookings

Editability matches the Resource Planner's By Person view:

  • For budget and deal bookings, you need Add, edit, and delete budget bookings to create, edit, or move a booking directly from the tab.

  • For absence bookings, you need Add, edit, and delete other users' absence to edit or move someone else's booking. Request absence lets you create your own, but doesn't grant edit rights over others'.

📌 Without the relevant permission, the row is read-only.

Who Can See the Planning Tab

Visibility is permission-based and doesn't depend on whether the person currently has a visible booking.

On your own profile, you need at least one of:

  • View basic info for all bookings: see allocations only, not full booking details.

  • View your own budget bookings: see full booking details.

  • Request absence: see your absence bookings.

Without any of these, you won't see the Planning tab on your own profile either.

On someone else's profile, you need:

  • View basic info for all bookings: the base gate. Gives you the tab on every bookable profile, regardless of whether that person currently has a booking. Shows allocations only.

  • View full booking info for bookings on shared budgets & deals: see full details for budgets and deals shared with you.

  • View full booking info for all budget & deal bookings: see full details for all budgets and deals.

  • View absence bookings for users in their workplace: see absence bookings for people in your workplace.

  • View absence details for all users: see absence bookings for everyone.

What you see within the tab is scoped per booking, the same way it works in the Resource Planner.
