Left to Schedule in Resource Planner (Beta)

See how many hours remain on a service when creating or editing a booking. Updates in real time based on your organization's settings.

When creating or editing a booking, the service field shows a badge with the hours left to schedule on the selected service.

The badge updates after saving, reflecting the impact of your booking.

Productive is rolling out an updated booking form. If your booking form looks different from the screenshots in this article, your organization hasn't been switched over yet: the rollout is gradual. Learn more here.

How the Calculation Works

The badge value depends on the Show remaining hours as setting configured by your admin in Settings > Resourcing > Planning & scheduling.

Unscheduled time

Calculated as: Estimate βˆ’ Total scheduled

Choose this if your team plans work upfront and schedules everything before it's worked. It gives you a clear picture of how much has been booked versus what's still open, without factoring in logged time.

Unaccounted time

Calculated as: Estimate βˆ’ (Worked + Future scheduled)

Choose this if your team logs time as work progresses. It subtracts both past work and future bookings, so the badge reflects what genuinely still needs to be planned.

πŸ“Œ Today counts as a future date in both calculations.

Reading the Badge

The badge color tells you where the service stands:

  • 🟒 Green β€” hours remain (e.g. 50 hrs)

  • βšͺ️ Gray/neutral β€” fully scheduled, nothing left

  • πŸ”΄ Red β€” over-scheduled (e.g. βˆ’12 hrs)

The badge updates after each save, so you can track remaining hours as your schedule evolves.

πŸ“Œ Example (Unaccounted time): A service has a 10-hour estimate. 0 hours have been worked, and 9 hours are in future bookings. The badge shows 1 hr remaining as unaccounted time.

πŸ“Œ Example (Unscheduled time): A service has a 10-hour estimate. 10 hours are scheduled across bookings. The badge shows 0 hrs of unscheduled time.
