If an agent has a Slack trigger set up, you can mention it by name in a Slack channel and it replies directly, the same way it would if mentioned on a task or through the AI Assistant.
đ Looking for the general AI Assistant (@Productive) instead of a specific agent? See AI in Slack.
Mentioning an Agent in Slack
In a channel where the agent's trigger is set up, mention it by name the same way you'd mention a person or the Productive assistant.
Example: @Budget Monitor summarize spending on the Website Redesign budget this month.
The agent treats your message as its instruction, replies in the same thread, and acts under its own name and avatar.
đ Include Thread Replies must be turned on for the agent's trigger if you want it to respond to mentions inside message threads, not just top-level channel messages.
If You Don't Have Access
Agents only respond to people they're shared with in Productive. If you mention an agent you don't have access to, it replies once, visible only to you, explaining that it can't help until its manager shares it with you.
đ See Setting Up and Managing AI Agents for how sharing works.
Example: Introducing a New Agent to the Team
Say you've just set up a Team Assistant agent for your department and want people to start using it.
Post a message in the team channel and mention the agent, asking it to introduce itself.
The agent replies in the thread with a short summary of what it can help with.
From there, anyone in the channel can mention it directly to ask questions, request summaries, or ask it to look something up in Productive.
Example: Filing a Bug From a Slack Conversation
Say your team has a Bug Reporter agent set up to open tasks in your bug-tracking project.
While discussing an issue in a channel, mention the agent and describe the bug.
The agent creates a task in the linked project, filling in the details from your message.
It replies in the thread with a link to the new task, so nobody needs to switch to Productive to file it manually.
Setting This Up for Your Own Agent
Want an agent on your team to work this way? You'll need to add a Slack trigger to it first.
