What Are Absence Approval Policies?

Absence approval policies simplify managing absence requests by defining approvers, notifications, and dynamic manager assignments.

Updated yesterday

Absence approval policies ensure clarity and consistency in managing employee Absence requests by defining rules for approval and notification.

šŸ“Œ Note: Absence is now divided into Time Off and Remote Work categories (currently in Beta). If you don’t see ā€œAbsence Approval Policiesā€ in your settings yet, your account will be updated soon. In the meantime, you’ll see Time Off Approval Policies—the functionality remains the same.

These policies simplify the approval process by specifying:

  • Who needs to approve a request for a certain absence category.

  • Who will be notified once the request is approved.

By creating such policies for your absence categories, you can assign them to multiple employees at once.

A key feature of these policies is the ability to dynamically set an employee's manager as an approver, removing the need for explicit assignments.

Alternatively, you can set custom approvers to individual employees without creating a policy.

Setting up absence approval policies is available on the Ultimate subscription plan.
